The 1st concrete placement for the 2nd floor deck is scheduled to take place in the next week. Placements for 1st floor walls and columns are ongoing. Underground plumbing and electrical on the North Side of the site is complete! The North Tower Crane is now up!

The fences are up around the site for the new Health Sciences Innovation Building (HSIB). Crews will be removing light poles and clearing the site to gear up for excavation to begin in July. Alternative parking for lot #2012 permit holders is available in the Highland Garage.

June 21, 2016

The next concrete pour on the north side of the site, near Mabel is scheduled for: Thursday, June 23rd from 12:01 am – 6:00 am. There are concrete pours scheduled for 2 consecutive nights on the south side of the project which will require the closure of Helen between Cherry and Warren: Friday, June 24th: 1:30 am – 6:00 am Friday, June 24th 10:30 pm – 8:00 am Saturday June 25th. The second tower crane is scheduled to be placed on the north side of the site in July.

Helen St. closed Cherry/Warren Thu. June 16 evening to Friday June 17th morning for concrete pour. The north tower crane erection will be rescheduled. Installation continues on Mechanical Electrical Plumbing deck inserts. The area just north of the basement is beginning to take shape. The building actually extends to the north end of the Medical Research Building.

ROAD CLOSURE Helen St. will be closed between Cherry & Warren on Saturday, June 4th from 12:01 am to 7am for concrete placement of the 1st floor deck. Overnight work (6pm – 6am) on the 3rd & 4th floors in the Keating Building and on all levels of MRB will continue through June 6th. Installation of the temporary cover at the Keating loading dock will continue through June 6th. The area just north of the basement will begin to take shape. The building actually extends to the north end of the Medical Research Building.

Placement of concrete foundations and walls continues. Installation of waterproofing at the elevator pit walls will occur this week. Installation of underground electrical will start the week of April 25th.

The South Tower Crane was erected last weekend. The new tower crane will handle the heavy lifting until December.

April 5, 2016

Installation of shotcrete walls continues on the North Elevation. Reinforcement is being installed and concrete footings are being placed for the basement throughout the site. The south Tower Crane will be erected April 8th and 9th. Pedestrians, Bicycles and cars will be detoured along Warren or Cherry as shown in the newsletter (pdf).

The South Tower Crane will be erected on April 8th and 9th - Helen will be closed between Cherry & Warren both days.

March 7, 2016

Concrete will begin Wednesday, March 9th and continue in the basement for four months. Drilling of rebar dowels into the Keating basement will begin on March 14th with a low-noise drill. The tower crane will arrive in early April.

February 24, 2016

A new map providing an overview of current and future UA and Banner construction projects is now available. Underground electrical and plumbing starts this week. Soil nail shoring and excavation complete.
