January 20, 2017

Parking lot 2029 located south of Drachman Hall at the northwest corner of Helen and Martin will be under construction beginning on Monday, January 23rd through approximately February 20th. The parking lot will remain open during the construction, however a few spaces adjacent to the construction area will be unavailable.

The air handler units were quickly and successfully installed onto the roof of the BSRL building over the weekend and Cherry has been reopened. See this week's newsletter for the photos and highlights.

The January Update from Kitchell Contractors has some great photos of the complex work underway in the basement of the HSIB project. In the next month, all of this will be covered up when concrete deck pours start in February. And what’s better than a crane at sunset?!

Just a reminder that Cherry Ave. will be closed from Helen to Mabel from early morning Friday, Jan. 13 through the end of the day, Monday, January 16 due to the setting of the air handling units on the roof of the BSRL building.

January 4, 2017

Southwest Gas will be paving the intersections of Cherry/Helen and Cherry/Mabel on Wednesday, January 4 and Thursday, January 5. The streets will remain open, yet restricted to one lane with flaggers.

December 21, 2016

Soon after the first of the year, Kitchell will begin the complex work to make underground connections between the new HSIB project and existing buildings and utilities. This will require the closure of the pedestrian/bike route in the area between the Skaggs Pharmacy building and the construction site. This closure will remain in place from January 9th through June.

Last month, DPR along with our Trade Partners and clients, participated in a fundraising event organized by Jake Smaellie from the DPR BSRL team in which over $14,000 dollars was raised to benefit the “Boys and Girls Club of Tucson”.

The 3rd concrete placement for Level 4 will take place on Tuesday, October 11th. Interior framing to begin at Level 1 and exterior framing continues at the same level. DPR Construction work on the west side of the Keating Building and the southeast corner of the construction site means that the loading dock will be inaccessible from 6pm to 4am on these dates: Oct.4-7, Oct.10-14, and Oct.17-21.

Two University structures at 1218 and 1224 N. Vine will be demolished beginning on Friday, October 7th and continuing through the weekend. Following the demolition, the area will be bladed and established as a construction storage area through the Fall of 2018.

Two structures east of the Highland Garage will be demolished over the next week. As a result, the pedestrian shortcut between the Highland Garage and Cherry Ave. will be closed from Thursday, Oct 6th through Monday, Oct 17th . Pedestrians will need to use Mabel or Helen. The area will remain fenced and used for construction storage for the duration of the HSIB project. A new pedestrian shortcut will be provided after Oct 17th. Map shown in linked story.
