It seems like just yesterday that this project was only a hole in the ground and now DPR has essentially completed the basement and is sending out their 60th newsletter. Thank you for keeping up with our progress over the last 60+ weeks! Here’s the latest news and photos in the weekly Newsletter.

February 22, 2017

Concrete pours are starting now and will continue through the summer. Pours will start around midnight and finish up around 6 am. Other than concrete truck traffic on Cherry, there shouldn’t be any impacts such as street or sidewalk closures.

February 15, 2017

The north tower crane was removed without incident over the weekend. It takes a large crew to enclose the building and connect it to the Keating Building. See more in DPR’s weekly NEWSLETTER.

February 10, 2017

The north tower crane will be taken down this weekend. This will require the closure of Cherry Ave. between Helen and Mabel from 5 a.m., Saturday, February 11 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, February 12. For more of the latest information on the project, see this week’s Newsletter.

February 6, 2017

Cherry Ave. will be temporarily closed between Mabel and Helen from 5:00 am next Saturday, February 11 through 7:00 pm Sunday, February 12.

January 31, 2017

Beginning February 4, 2017, easternmost pedestrian traffic between Drachman and Adams Streets on Cherry Ave. will be diverted to the west side of Cherry Ave. allowing continued construction progress at the Central Utility Plant.

January 26, 2017

January 20, 2017

Parking lot 2029 located south of Drachman Hall at the northwest corner of Helen and Martin will be under construction beginning on Monday, January 23rd through approximately February 20th. The parking lot will remain open during the construction, however a few spaces adjacent to the construction area will be unavailable.

January 18, 2017

The air handler units were quickly and successfully installed onto the roof of the BSRL building over the weekend and Cherry has been reopened. See this week's newsletter for the photos and highlights.

The January Update from Kitchell Contractors has some great photos of the complex work underway in the basement of the HSIB project. In the next month, all of this will be covered up when concrete deck pours start in February. And what’s better than a crane at sunset?!

January 11, 2017

Just a reminder that Cherry Ave. will be closed from Helen to Mabel from early morning Friday, Jan. 13 through the end of the day, Monday, January 16 due to the setting of the air handling units on the roof of the BSRL building.

January 4, 2017

Southwest Gas will be paving the intersections of Cherry/Helen and Cherry/Mabel on Wednesday, January 4 and Thursday, January 5. The streets will remain open, yet restricted to one lane with flaggers.

December 21, 2016

Soon after the first of the year, Kitchell will begin the complex work to make underground connections between the new HSIB project and existing buildings and utilities. This will require the closure of the pedestrian/bike route in the area between the Skaggs Pharmacy building and the construction site. This closure will remain in place from January 9th through June.

Last month, DPR along with our Trade Partners and clients, participated in a fundraising event organized by Jake Smaellie from the DPR BSRL team in which over $14,000 dollars was raised to benefit the “Boys and Girls Club of Tucson”.
